Model 3130 was introduced by Fritz Hansen in 1957 at the Designers' Spring Exhibition (Kunsthaandværkernes Foraarsudstilling). Later that year, the chair was awarded the 'Grand Prix' at the Triennale in Milan. The chair has 'adopted' the name of the award and always retained it. The original design (like this version) has wooden legs. Later on, the chair was also produced with chromed metal legs and recently reintroduced with wooden legs.
